Welcome to my moody world...

I'm Aga, a photographer based in Scotland, drawn to moody light, dramatic landscapes, quiet moments and the little details that make a place feel like itself.

Photography has always been my way of slowing down and paying attention. I'm interested not only in how a place looks, but in how it feels - the atmosphere, the landscape around it, the people within it and the story it can tell.

Scotland

Scotland has become a natural home for my photography.

Its landscapes are constantly changing - dramatic one minute, quiet and understated the next. The weather, the light, the coastline, the mountains and the enormous sense of space all give me something different to photograph.

I'm particularly drawn to the moodier side of Scotland: misty mornings, dark skies, winter light, wild coastlines and landscapes that don't need to be perfect to be beautiful.

But I'm equally interested in the quieter details: the textures, colours, people and places that give each part of Scotland its own character.

Beyond the landscape

Although landscapes are a big part of my visual world, I'm equally fascinated by people.

Portraits and fashion photography give me a different way of exploring mood and character, while aerial photography allows me to step back and see familiar places from another perspective. For me, photography isn't really about fitting into one category. It's about curiosity - finding something interesting in a place, a person or a moment, and trying to capture what made me stop and look in the first place.

My approach

I don't want my photographs to simply show you what something looks like.

I want them to give you a sense of being there.

Sometimes that comes from dramatic light or a huge landscape. Sometimes it's something much quieter: a texture, a shadow, a gesture or a fleeting moment.

That sense of atmosphere is what ties my work together.

And perhaps that's why I've always thought of it simply as my moody world.
